Outer Material
Smooth Leather
- Durable, easy to care for, and resistant to everyday wear.

Waxed Nubuck
- Sanded leather treated with wax → more water‑repellent, soft, and flexible.
- Perfect for active play, but may show wear on rough surfaces.
- Found on: Edsbro Pink, Edsbro Green
Lining
- Produced in Europe, this leather is made through a vegetable tanning process, which gives a natural grain and color that is unique to each pair and develops a beautiful patina over time. Just like human skin, the leather changes color when exposed to strong light, making your shoes truly unique.
- Soft, flexible, skin‑friendly, and breathable.
Kavat's chrome‑free hides are tanned without chrome and are kept separate from other leathers at the tanneries and in their warehouse. Machines used in production must be thoroughly cleaned or dedicated exclusively to chrome‑free leather. The hides are tested annually by independent laboratories. Kavat has also developed a new chrome‑free version of their popular XC leather (Cross Country), which is gradually being implemented. Made in Europe.
Made from more environmentally friendly and chrome‑free Eco Performance leather (EP).
Vegetable tanned Leather
Produced in Europe, this leather is made through a vegetable tanning process, which gives a natural grain and color that is unique to each pair and develops a beautiful patina over time. Just like human skin, the leather changes color when exposed to strong light, making your shoes truly unique.
Flexible Sole
All Kavat's soles are carefully developed and tested to fulfill several important functions. A sole must be durable and have a good fit. It should be flexible while also providing lateral stability. It needs to have good grip on the surfaces you walk on and protect your feet from sharp objects. The materials must not contain any environmentally or health‑hazardous substances.
All of this forms the foundation of how Kavat design and produce their soles. The soles on Kavat's smallest children’s shoes are extra soft and flexible to make it easier for little ones to take their first steps when they are just learning to walk.
Care instructions
- Clean with a damp cloth and mild soap
- Apply water-repellent when needed (especially nubuck)
- Avoid excessive moisture and heavy wear
We recommend cleaning embroidered shoes gently with a soft, slightly damp cloth. For caring for the leather, we use a clear wax, which should be applied carefully and only to the leather around the embroidery — not on the embroidered areas.
